Crafting an Organic Modern Palette

Design Trends, featured - 29 August 2025

We are currently working with a dream interior design client at their home on the outskirts of Eugene, Oregon, who loves rich earth tones and calming neutrals to design their primary suite bathroom and bedroom, and mudroom addition. When approaching this project, our goal was to create an environment that feels both grounded and refined, designing spaces that embrace warmth, texture, and natural elements of the Pacific Northwest without feeling like a remote cabin. We are excited to share a timeless palette of organic tones and tactile materials that connect each space while allowing the bathroom, mudroom, and bedroom to express their own personalities.

Start with a Cohesive Color Palette

The foundation of our interior design process always begins with the color palette. We used warm whites, muted taupes, and shades drawn from stone and wood. We added subtle contrast with sage greens and rich bronze details, bringing dimension without visual disruption.

Our color palette includes:

Neutral Ground

Honed Soapstone

Hardware

Urban Bronze

Texture as Color

Organic modern design lives in the details. In the bathroom, honed stone surfaces and brushed hardware add softness. The mudroom incorporates rich walnut wood tones, painted cabinetry in Hardware by Sherwin Williams, and a marbled plaid micro mosaic that provides a rich texture. In the bedroom, soft textiles layered with linen, plush wool, and a hint of velvet, introduce comfort while maintaining the clean lines of modern design.

Functional Aesthetic

Beyond the visual story, each room is designed for everyday life. The mudroom provides an organized and durable drop zone with the same refined finishes as the private spaces. The bathroom layers luxury into everyday rituals, offering a retreat-like quality. And the bedroom, bathed in soft neutrals and layered textures, becomes a restful retreat.
